Victorian House, London

A thoughtfully designed solution to common terraced home challenges, offering more space, abundant natural light and a seamless connection to the garden.

In many terraced homes, outbuildings create an underused area between the house and boundary. This design transforms that space into a part of the home.

The new extension enlarges the kitchen and dining area whilst enhancing the visual and physical connection between the house and the garden.

A newly insulated boundary wall cleverly supports both the neighbours existing outbuilding and the roof of the new extension.
Carefully positioned wall openings allow natural light to flood into both the extension and the existing home, creating a bright and inviting living environment.

Inside, a new ‘picture window’ with an integrated seat frames a view of the garden, creating a cozy nook for relaxation.

The choice of materials - brick, timber, and stainless steel - were made for their distinctive character and durability. A custom concrete worktop, cast on site, extends the full length of the kitchen adding a touch of bespoke craftsmanship.
Externally, the use of glazing with black frames for all new elements provides a clear contrast between old & new.
